What robo-advisors are

Robo-advisors typically ask about your goals and risk tolerance, then place you in a ready-made diversified portfolio that is rebalanced automatically. You trade convenience for less day-to-day control.

Costs and fit

Fees often combine a platform/management charge with underlying fund costs. That can be worth it if you want automation — or look expensive if you are happy picking a simple DIY index portfolio.

Compare [robo-advisors](/invest/robo-advisors) alongside [investment platforms](/invest/investment-platforms) and always read risk disclosures.
